NEC Held Talk with EU and Japan

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald)— The National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia’s senior officials held talk here this afternoon with two major donors.Kuoy Bunroeun, Vice Chairman of NEC said we held talk with Jean-Francois Cautain, Ambassador of EU and Yuji KUMAMARU, ambassador of Japan to update on the EU and Japan’s promising for the financial support to the country’s election reform.NEC will test a computerized voter registration system in August or September 2015.The new computerized system will allow non-governmental organizations and political parties’ agents to observe the whole registration process.This new system, which is part of election reform, will be conducted under the technical and financial support from Japan, European Union (EU), and other international communities.In early 2016, NEC will begin preparing the new voters’ list for the fourth-mandate commune/Sangkat council election in 2017 and the parliamentary election in 2018.
