PHNOM PENH, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni has appointed 38 advisors to recently-elected Senate president Say Chhum, according to a royal decree released to the media on Wednesday.
Two advisors are in a rank equal to Senior Minister, 13 are in the rank equal to Minister, 9 are in the rank of Secretary of State, 9 are in the rank of Undersecretary of State, and 5 are in the rank of director-general, said the decree signed by the king on Monday.
"Say Chhum, president of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, must take responsibility to implement this royal decree from the day of signature," the decree said.
Say Chhum, who is currently vice-president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, was elected as the president of the Senate on June 9, a day after the incumbent Chea Sim died of illness at the age of 83.
