PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) –230 Cambodian laborers will return to the Kingdom on Thursday from Indonesia, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release.
The press release says that the Cambodian Embassy in Indonesia worked closely with PT Maribu Industries Group, which represents the company that owns the fishing boats on Ambon Island where the Cambodians worked.
After the Cambodian Embassy demanded the workers' repatriation, the owner of the fishing boats bought flights home for every fisherman and paid them their yearly salaries.
The press release said that another 17 fishermen will be repatriated after this initial group.
