16 Indonesians trafficked to Cambodia

Mederka.com reports: 16 Indonesians held captive by a casino owner in Cambodia are victims of human trafficking, said police.

JAKARTA: 16 Indonesian nationals held captive by a casino owner in Cambodia are victims of human trafficking, said Head of Police General Badrodin Haiti, adding the person suspected of the crime has managed to escape.
“If it’s true that there are people behind this, we will investigate. It’s possible the suspect responsible for this human trafficking has escaped,” he said at the police headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (May 15).
Police General Badrodin added that the Indonesian authorities have asked their Cambodian counterparts to help arrest the suspect. "We are working with the police there."

The 16 Indonesians held are believed to come from the Meranti islands in Riau.
