Miss Lancaster goes on the defensive in this interview for the republic of Cambodia (Lon Nol's regime). I neither like Sihanouk's regime nor Lon Nol's , because they both were equally bad. Before she defends the LOn nol's regime she should reexamine the regime closely. With threads , intimidation , ill treatment to its people and rotten corruption to the core in the arm forces. Do you think that the lon nol's regime could sustain the Khmer rouge fighting forces with their hearts and mind already won. Apparently not.

Let's say hypothetically that Prince Sarimatak and Lon Nol were patriotic heroes of the days, the simple facts that they could not control their subordinates who run amok with corruption and ultimately they fell on their swords.

Since the Independence Cambodia has been led by leaders who used threads, intimidation, killings as their tools to hold on their power to the present day . No wonder we the KHmer have always been the divided people.
Stop looking for scapegoats, but to look at ourselves and ask ourselves what can we do better for our people and country

Begin of Drgunzet's comment.

It's universal scam.

In Vietnam, the bank officers approve loans to their friends for 10 millions. Their friend gave them 2 million in kick-back then declared the business collapsed, keep the 8 million.

The bank lost 10 millions while the bank officers gained 2 millions and their friends gained 8 millions.

USA hired Lon Nol to fight North Vietnamese for them. Paid them big bucks. Lon Nol and his cronies kept some of the money for themselves, a few hundred millions and paid the Cambodian soldiers with what's left.

As that was not enough, Lon Nol borrowed more money from USA to fight North Vietnamese under sovereignty loan. Again, Lon Nol and his cronies pockets a lot of loan money into their personal accounts, while the common Cambodians not seeing much.

So now a day, Cambodia still owes USA some 400 million US dollars from the Lon Nol area.

When you have characters such as Sam Rainsy, Kem Sokha who pledged tough words "We will never join CPP." They asked you folks to go to the street to face the batons and violence right?

But remember Sam Rainsy who ran away quickly and let the farmers who pull the border post up to rot in jail for him?

How about Kem Sokha who said, "There was no S-21. Khmer Rouges were not stupid. Vietnam staged S-21 up so that they can stay."

You want that kind of leaders to lead Cambodia!

I read about Mr. Hun Sen and I admired him. At age 25, he braved the hostile enemy who had been at war for years, and crossed the border to seek help for his people. He could have been shot by the Vietnamese border guards.

Think about it. Khmer Rouges regularly crossed the borders to kill the Vietnamese civilians and boasted about it. A Vietnamese border guards could simply shot all Khmer soldiers approaching the border, surrendering or not. Clearly Mr. Hun Sen put himself under the guns of the Vietnamese border guards.
