Six Cambodian opposition politicians charged with insurrection

Five opposition MPs and one activists sent to Preysor Prison after a preliminary hearing at the Phnom Penh Court.



Mr. Oeur Narith calls for the release of the opposition MPs on 16/07/14 before he himself was arrested.


A Cambodian court Wednesday charged six opposition politicians with leading an insurrection during a protest that left scores injured, activists said, a charge that could carry up to 30 years in jail.

PHNOM PENH: A Cambodian court Wednesday charged six opposition politicians with leading an insurrection during a protest that left scores injured, activists said, a charge that could carry up to 30 years in jail.
"The court also decided to place them in pre-trial detention. This is a setback for democracy in Cambodia," said Am Sam Ath of the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights.
Khmerization: The politicians were Mu Sochua, Ho Vann, Men Sothavrin, Keo Phirum, Real Camerin, Nuth Rumduol, Long Ry. Two other opposition activists, Oeur Narith, Khin Roeun, were also charged.

Most of the ones who beat the guards were thugs hired by the authority to cause troubles so they have the excuse to arrest opposition politicians and activists. This is Hun Sen's cheap tactic.
