CPP vows to increase monthly wage to 250 dollars for civil servants and 160 dollars for garment workers by 2018 [Why wait until 2018? Is this a vote-buying?]

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has issued nine points of its policies for upcoming local council Election which will be held on May 18, 2014.

According a statement issued on Saturday, the policies included a promise to increase the monthly salary to 1,000,000 riel or 250 dollars for civil servants and soldiers and US$160 for garment and footwear factory workers in 2018 and strong commitment to solving land disputes.

CPP also mentioned the good governance, social order and development as its priorities.

The campaign for the Council Election will last from 2-16 May. Five political parties are eligible for the election.

CNRP should aggressively point out that HUn Sen agree to raise salaries to civil services and labors as the result of hard fight, paid in blood by CNRP and lavor groups. As example 23 people remain in prison because of their fight for this cause. Explain to the people that without CNRP and labor movement, CPP and Hun Sen will not feel urgency to take care this issue.

It is possible for Hun Sen to increase wage up to $250.
Hun Sen just promote Jom Prasith to be the minister of energy. We know clearly that Jom Prasith work very well with Chinese investors. Those Chinese investors are now investing in oil project in some islands in Cambodia. They also promised to Hun Sen to extract oil by 2018. Hun Sen always did not want to do business with Chevron from the US.
That's why he wait until 2018.

It is very possible that after 2018, Hun Sen can still do corruption and also he can share some tips to civil and garment workers (Slaves).

Let me speak on Mr. Hun Sen's behalf. By 2018, Cambodia will improve it's competitiveness in:

1. Logistic. Lower cost of transportation, shorter delay through better volume and management efficiency.

2. Skills. More and more talents will emerge. And the current workforce is also more skilled over time.

3. Business trust and reputation. When things are calmed down, and with a proven track record, Cambodians will be paid more.

That is why Mr. Hun Sen promised the higher wages in 2018, but not now. You must trust Mr. Hun Sen. He knows what he is doing.

In Vietnam, the minimum wage for garment workers is about $125, but many of the workers are being paid $200, sometime $350.

Vietnamese workers changed jobs every "Tet" New Year, thus they have more skills. And they don't suddenly change job. They wait till "Tet" to do it.

Vietnamese workers are nicer, less violent and work harder. Most garment workers are females and they don't get raped as often as Cambodian females. Thus they can keep their productivity up.

If you want the Cambodian women to have higher salary, I suggest Cambodia to protect Cambodian from rampant rapes. Read the United Nations' report and see for yourselves.

In 2018, Vietnamese Companies Will Flow Into Cambodia. Those skillful and jobless vietnamese will come to take jobs from Cambodians. In next 2 years, whenever you call a toll-free center for private companies in Cambodia, they will ask you to select languages like: For Khmer language, press 1; For Vietnamese language, press 2; To speak with customer service, press 0".....So, all Khmers, are you ready to be workers for jobless Vietnamese engineers in your own country, Cambodia?
